Lynne Gaetz

Lynne Gaetz has resided in Niagara-on-the-Lake since 2020. Her paintings come to her, often in dreams, as she creates original visions of mysterious landscapes or people with antlers, tall hats, or tall hair. Her travels—to places such as Mexico, Turkey, Kenya, India, Italy, Morocco, and Greece—have influenced her rich colour palette. A full-time artist, she has a minor in Fine Arts from the University of Calgary, and she’s also taken art courses at various universities in Quebec, including UQAM, Laval, and Concordia.

She has exhibited in galleries in Alberta, Quebec, and Ontario, and her works are in many private collections. She continues to learn, taking workshops, conversing with other artists, and challenging herself to risk new directions.

“During the hours that I spend painting, music and colour embrace me and make me love the piece of the world I am presenting:

the person, back turned, who is deep in thought; the bird in flight; the trees consumed by rising waters; the confident man in a very tall hat; the winged woman who has fallen to earth. Most of my paintings are done in oils, with an underpainting of acrylic. I often incorporate mixed media images, usually of my own photos or artwork. In recent "Dreamscapes," I've added sea glass, tiles, and stones to the piece.
