Sherron Moorhead

Like many artists, my life has been dedicated to creating art in various forms.

At eleven, I began significant art lessons at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, where I encountered Arthur Lismer (Group of Seven), who directed the Montreal Children's Centre. His remarkable presence and sketching talent left an indelible impression on me, igniting a lifelong passion for artistic growth and learning.

I acquired my first oil paint set at twenty and have since been devoted to honing my craft through classes, books, videos, and consistent practice. My artwork is best characterized as representational.

“My painting is not about conveying my personal ideas on a specific scene or subject; rather, it's about providing the viewer with the chance to appreciate and interpret the subject matter in their own unique way.

I work in oil paints with brushes and palette knives, as well as coloured pencils and oil pastels. While my initial focus was on landscapes, I have since expanded my repertoire to include still life, animals, and people.

To paraphrase Gustave Courbet, a 19th-century French painter: ‘The task of the painter is to take the world as he found it and to present it straightforwardly’.”
