Patricia Paquin
Patricia Paquin grew up a stone's throw away from Lake Ontario in Burlington, Ontario and resided for more than 30 years in picturesque Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Before that, she spent many years in British Columbia, at times living on a boat, working in the Maricultural Industry and managing a seafood processing plant in Lund, B.C.
She has been an active member of the Niagara Arts Community including the Niagara Pumphouse and an early member of the Parkway Artists Guild where she served as Vice President for a number of years. She was owner/manager of The Artists' Loft in Niagara-on-the-Lake from 2003 to 2007 which featured her artwork as well as many other local and Canadian artisan creations.
Although she regularly nurtures her childhood love of Art with books and workshops, she considers her present level of Artistic skills to be largely self-taught.
Patricia's bold and whimsical images have charmed and delighted an avid clientele across much of North America and Overseas. Her continuing series of on-of-a-kind faces and florals on both Pottery and Canvas/Paper has found a true following among both casual and dedicated collectors alike.
Patricia's Ceramic Artworks begin as either slip cast, pressed clay or hand cut from rolled slabs of clay.
Her designs are individually hand-drawn and hand-painted with underglaze pigments onto functional pottery such as vases, planters, teapots, mugs, and platters. The designs are fired in an electric kiln to fuse the colours with the clay. Each piece is then dipped in a clear food-safe liquid glaze and fired for a second time thus making the pottery functional.
