Joanne Cutrara Morandin

I'm a retired nurse who has always enjoyed experimenting with a variety of art forms from a young age. I found personal balance having a creative outlet and source of relaxation.

I took my first watercolour course 5 years ago when I moved to the town of NOTL, and have been taking courses with different instructors and mediums ever since. Wanting a challenge, I decided to focus on capturing the beauty of florals, which has reinforced many learned techniques and the intricacies of floral varieties.

I volunteer with many organizations around town and presently sit on the BOD of the Niagara Pumphouse Arts Centre, supporting 'Art for All' in our wonderful community.

“The town of Niagara-on-the-Lake provides beautiful floral inspiration, from which I'm able to photograph endless blooms which form the basis of my creations.

Each spring, summer and fall, I'm out exploring the colours, from which I create either a watercolour, pen and ink, or alcohol ink rendition. I experiment with capturing fine detail, as well as a looser style, depending on the feelings each flower evokes.”
